The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Doug Davidson (Paul Williams) recently spoke out about his status at the CBS soap. When a fan tweeted Davidson to ask if he was still on the show, his response created quite a stir. Davidson certainly didn’t have a hopeful outlook about his future at Y&R.
“I have no shows left to air and no dates scheduled,” Davidson said. “I guess I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.” Of course, we should note that Davidson must’ve miscalculated – perhaps due to those impeachment proceedings preemptions that threw off the schedule. The Young and the Restless spoilers say Paul will indeed show up in the episode airing Monday, March 2.
However, Davidson’s overall point stands about not having much going on. They apparently haven’t called him back to the studio in a while. This isn’t the first time Davidson has made comments like this. Back in 2018, Davidson made major waves in the soap world by announcing his firing on Twitter.
If we’re being honest here, Davidson wasn’t fired then and he isn’t fired now. Paul is simply a recurring player, so Y&R calls him when he’s needed. Naturally, many Young and the Restless fans feel Paul should be featured more often! That’s a separate issue for viewers to discuss, but not being featured much is different from being kicked off the show.
Davidson seemed to clear that up in another tweet. After a fan spoke up in outrage, Davidson indicated he could still be called back to The Young and the Restless set. “Hey, they have my number,” Davidson said. “I didn’t leave.”
In other words, Davidson wasn’t given the boot or anything. He’s just disheartened since Y&R isn’t using him and doesn’t seem to have anything in the works right now.
We should also note that The Young and the Restless wraps up a major crime story in Monday’s episode. Ripley Turner (Christian Keyes) is finally apprehended, which seemingly ends the whole Ripley saga. Maybe Y&R writers just want to focus on other types of storylines and give everyone a break from police business.
Whatever the case, Paul fans will hold out hope that he’ll make a comeback down the road – and we have every reason to believe he will. The Young and the Restless spoilers, updates and news point to some shockers and shakeups, so stay tuned.
