Channeling early 2000s R&B with a flair of trip-hop comes the dulcet tones of the latest President Street single, ‘Something to Believe’.

Coming at a time where the entire world can relate to finding inner strength to overcome adversity, the song was originally inspired by an abusive relationship, but under the knowing eyes of Pete and Ruby, it evolved into something universal. The quest for self-assurance and reliance is something we can all relate to, especially at a time where nothing is normal and so much is being asked of us.

Musically, the song makes use of sampled drums and synths to support the unbelievable vocals of frontwoman Ruby. Her voice is quietly intimate with an inner strength, just like the character she is singing about.

Pre-COVID, the next step in President Street’s meteoric rise was to tour Japan. With two UK tours under their belt and their number of fans growing each day, this ever-intriguing collective is sure to land on their feet and hit the ground running, no matter the state of the planet, and ‘Something to Believe’ is the perfect song to herald their return.
