MATTHEWS, N.C. — One person died after a crash on Sam Newell Road in Matthews on Friday, according to the Matthews Police Department.
Officers say they will be closing Sam Newell Road and Rice Road while they continue their investigation.
Chopper 9 flew over the scene where a car was in the trees off of the side of the street and police were investigating the crash.
The officers have not released the cause of the crash.
